“Tragic Christmas Murder: Killer Husband Sentenced”

It was meant to be a joyous Christmas for Za’Zell Preston, celebrating with her infant son and two other children. Her Anaheim, California apartment was filled with holiday cheer in 2011, but beneath the festive facade, she was enduring a nightmare of abuse at the hands of her husband, William Wallace.

Despite years of controlling and violent behavior from Wallace, Za’Zell had forgiven him multiple times, even after he had previously been jailed for assaulting her. She had taken steps to protect herself with a restraining order, but when Wallace was released and promised change, she allowed him back into her life.

Tragically, on Christmas Day, Wallace called for medical help claiming Za’Zell needed assistance. Paramedics found her gravely injured, surrounded by signs of a violent struggle in the apartment. Despite their efforts, she did not survive.

Investigations revealed the horrifying events of the previous night, where Wallace had viciously attacked Za’Zell after a Christmas Eve party. Witnesses reported hearing the altercation, and Za’Zell’s daughter witnessed the brutal assault that ultimately led to her mother’s death.

Wallace attempted to justify his actions as self-defense, but the evidence pointed to a pattern of abuse culminating in Za’Zell’s tragic death. He went as far as manipulating the situation on Christmas morning, coercing the children to open presents next to their deceased mother.

After a lengthy legal process, Wallace was convicted of second-degree murder in April 2021. The court heard emotional testimonies detailing the years of abuse endured by Za’Zell and her children. The judge sentenced Wallace to 15 years to life, acknowledging the profound impact of his actions on the family.

Za’Zell’s family and loved ones condemned Wallace’s heinous acts, seeking justice for the pain and suffering he caused. They emphasized the need to hold him accountable for the irreparable harm he inflicted on their lives.
