Two teenagers who were reportedly forced to dig their own graves at gunpoint during a terrifying kidnapping incident have been discharged from the hospital, as per recent reports.
The two youths, aged 14 and 16, were allegedly abducted and held captive for several hours in a secluded area near Nantes, France, in a situation believed to be linked to ongoing conflicts between rival drug factions, according to police.
The victims were apparently taken in a vehicle to a forest, where they were stripped, assaulted, threatened, and coerced to excavate their own graves under duress before managing to flee and seek assistance at a nearby residence.
Authorities have initiated an inquiry for “violence and kidnapping with a weapon” subsequent to the occurrence on January 2.
The ordeal, which commenced around 1am and concluded approximately two hours later when the teenagers sought help from a resident in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, involved the victims knocking on the door for aid.
Upon observing the youths’ injuries, including cuts on their faces and fingers, the homeowner promptly alerted the authorities.
Antoine Leroy from the Nantes prosecutor’s office mentioned that one of the teenagers had sustained a stab wound to the thigh, adding that both individuals have since been discharged from the hospital. He indicated that these incidents are linked to drug-related crimes and territorial disputes.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which is the latest in a series of alarming events involving young individuals amidst ongoing drug-related conflicts in France. Experts have cautioned that organized criminal groups are targeting children as young as 12 for drug trafficking purposes.
In a separate incident last month, eight individuals were apprehended on suspicion of murder after a teenager’s death was live-streamed on social media and his body was set ablaze.
The charred remains of the 19-year-old male were found in a secluded area near Nîmes in southern France, with investigators discovering indications of a meticulously planned execution involving multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head, and deliberate burning of the body.
It was revealed during the investigation that the victim’s demise was broadcast live on social media as part of an escalating gang feud in Nîmes.
A surge in violent offenses in the region has been attributed to gangs relocating from Marseille, prompting the implementation of a city-wide curfew for individuals under 16 last summer.
