“Summer Streaming Surge Causes Broadband Bottleneck for Brits”

A recent study by Uswitch has revealed that the surge in streaming and internet usage during the summer is leading to a bottleneck in broadband services for millions of Brits. Approximately 9.4 million people are experiencing slower internet speeds due to the increased demand.

The research conducted by Uswitch indicates that 32% of individuals encounter more frequent broadband issues when temperatures rise. Among the cities affected the most, Edinburgh residents top the list with 26% reporting decreased speeds, followed by London and Plymouth at 23%, and Leeds and Sheffield closely behind.

In contrast, Cardiff and Bristol are experiencing smoother broadband services compared to the other cities surveyed. According to Ernest Doku, broadband expert at Uswitch, users facing slow speeds should conduct a speed test to ensure they are receiving the speeds promised in their package. Providers are expected to guarantee a minimum speed for their broadband service, especially for superfast products based on direct line capabilities.

To optimize broadband performance, users are advised to follow these proactive measures.
