“Samsung TV Owners in UK to Enjoy Free UKTV Channels Online”

Samsung TV owners in the UK are in for a significant upgrade as they will soon have access to additional free content. UKTV has confirmed that its popular free-to-air linear channels will be available on Samsung screens without the need for extra devices. These channels will be streamed over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial connection.

As part of the collaboration, Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for viewers to discover classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows. In the coming months, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden will be accessible through a direct link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app.

Samsung estimates that millions of its TVs will receive the update, with the channels featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide. This integration aims to enhance the visibility of UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers who access TV solely through the internet.

Jonathan Newman, UKTV’s General Manager of Commercial, and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened partnership with Samsung. Dan Harvie, Samsung UK and Ireland’s Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances, emphasized the importance of UKTV’s diverse content in enriching the entertainment options on Samsung TVs.

While a specific launch date has not been announced, the rollout of the new features is anticipated to commence shortly, enhancing the viewing experience for Samsung TV users.
