A fashion model has caused controversy by stating that she does not befriend individuals who are not financially well-off.
Lana Madison, a 29-year-old who earns £1.2 million annually, insists on associating only with people who earn a similar six-figure income or higher. She has decided to distance herself from her old friends in Texas, USA, as they allegedly became envious and resentful of her success.
Expressing her views, Lana, who boasts 76,000 followers on Instagram, stated, “I prefer not to socialize with individuals of lower financial status as it complicates things if they cannot match my lifestyle and spending habits. If you cannot afford luxury experiences, you cannot be part of my social circle.”
According to Lana, her selective approach to friendships is aimed at safeguarding her achievements and tranquility. She articulated, “When I indulge, I want to do so without facing disapproval from others.”
The outspoken transgender model, who grew up in a strict Catholic family before transitioning, acknowledged that her stringent criteria for friendships may seem harsh but have significantly improved her life. She remarked, “By eliminating friends who imposed guilt on me, my life has become more positive.”
Lana emphasized that her previous friends often criticized her for being ostentatious, but she asserts that she is merely enjoying the lifestyle she has worked hard to achieve. She recounted a conversation with a former acquaintance who accused her of being money-focused, to which Lana responded, “I am focused on success, not money.”
The influencer is unapologetic about her straightforwardness, stating, “I no longer feel remorseful for owning what others do not possess. I value quality over quantity in friendships, and I will not allow negativity to affect my life.”
