“Fury Over Reform Candidate’s Racist Comments”

Nigel Farage is facing criticism for not taking action against a senior Reform candidate who made a series of “racist and unacceptable” remarks about politicians. Chris Parry, already embroiled in controversy for suggesting that David Lammy should return to the Caribbean, also cast doubts on the loyalty of eight other minority ethnic figures to the UK. Among those targeted were Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf, independent MP Zarah Sultana, and Scottish Labour chief Anas Sarwar.

Despite calls to address Parry’s comments, two of Farage’s key allies declined to denounce him. Labour chairwoman Anna Turley criticized Farage for tolerating racism within his party. A review of Parry’s social media activity uncovered derogatory comments about Mahmood and Yousaf, questioning their allegiances. Additionally, Parry made disparaging remarks about Lammy, accusing him of prioritizing another country over the UK.

Parry also targeted other politicians like Dawn Butler, Kaukab Stewart, and Naz Shah, insinuating disloyalty and religious bias. Turley demanded Parry’s removal from Reform UK, accusing Farage of neglecting his duty to address racism within the party. She highlighted the failure to act despite the public exposure of Parry’s initial racist remarks weeks ago, questioning Farage’s leadership.

In response to the controversy, Richard Tice, Farage’s deputy, refrained from condemning Parry’s comments about Lammy. Tice stated that differences in political views are a normal part of the democratic process. Another Reform MP, Danny Kruger, deferred judgment on Parry’s remarks to party leadership.

During an interview on Talk TV, Parry stood by his comments, urging people to review the context on Twitter. He defended his stance that as a foreign secretary, loyalty should lie with the UK. When pressed about Lammy’s allegiance, Parry redirected the question to Lammy himself. Reform has been contacted for a response to the situation.
