A soon-to-be mother was viciously pulled into a pond and almost drowned by her partner after she shared photos of them at their baby shower.
The expectant young woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, uploaded pictures of herself and Dominic Thomas on social media, triggering a violent reaction from him instead of joy.
The 19-year-old father had been in a hidden relationship with another woman and became anxious that she would come across the photos of him and his pregnant girlfriend. Unfortunately, his fears materialized as his secret lover did see the images. Thomas, hailing from Kansas, USA, proceeded to send menacing messages to the mother of his unborn child, declaring his intent to take action against her.
In a disturbing turn of events, he menacingly assured her, “It’s not a threat, it’s a promise,” and callously added, “And I won’t care about the consequences.” Subsequently, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted murder.
Responding to the threats, his pregnant girlfriend, aged 17 at the time, retorted, “It’s quite a lovely thing to say when I’m carrying your baby, so if something happens to me, he will perish with me.” Thomas callously replied, “No, he won’t,” to which the young woman countered, “If my heart stops, so does his.”
Law enforcement officials disclosed that the couple had been having arguments recently after the girlfriend discovered Thomas’s deceitful relationship with another woman. An incident report detailed that after a baby shower, photos of the couple were taken and posted on Facebook, leading to a series of threatening messages from Thomas towards his girlfriend.
The disturbing messages were sent just a day prior to Thomas attempting to drown his partner in Wichita. On the day of the incident, Thomas suggested going for a walk with the teen. They conversed at a nearby pond for about 20 minutes before Thomas started expressing his loneliness and desire to end his life.
The harrowing struggle ensued when Thomas forcibly moved her towards the water, where he held her head underwater despite her cries and pleas for mercy.
Although Thomas abruptly halted the attack upon mention of their child, he admitted to wanting to drown her for the predicament he found himself in due to his dual relationships. Thomas, now 24, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder after a trial that spanned four days in 2024.
