“Discontent Grows Among Conservative Members Towards Kemi Badenoch”

A significant number of discontented members within the Conservative party are expressing growing impatience with Kemi Badenoch, with approximately half of them indicating that she is not the ideal candidate to lead the party in the upcoming election. According to a recent survey conducted by YouGov among Tory supporters, only 46% believe she should continue in her leadership role for the next election, while 50% oppose this idea.

The survey also revealed a division among members regarding the longevity of Badenoch’s leadership. About 49% of respondents foresee her stepping down before the next election, while 47% believe she will remain in her position.

Despite Badenoch’s victory over Robert Jenrick in the previous leadership contest, the poll indicated that Jenrick is now more favored among members, with 46% supporting him compared to 39% for Badenoch.

As the Reform UK party gains momentum, a considerable 64% of Conservative members are in favor of an electoral pact with Nigel Farage’s party, and nearly half (46%) support a complete merger with Reform UK.

On the other hand, Conservative members overwhelmingly reject the idea of forming a coalition with the Labour party, with 93% opposing it. However, 73% of members are open to the possibility of a coalition with Reform UK, with only 25% against the idea.

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, has garnered mixed opinions among Tory members, with 53% viewing him favorably while 45% hold an unfavorable opinion.

Despite calls for collaboration with Reform UK, Badenoch has consistently dismissed the notion, citing Farage’s past statements about wanting to dismantle the Conservative party.

The ongoing Conservative party conference in Manchester has seen a lackluster turnout, with delegates expressing disappointment over the subdued atmosphere and noticeable absence of usual attendees, including protesters.

The survey conducted by YouGov for Sky News involved 652 Conservative members between September 26 and October 2.
