Co-op will unveil 11 new stores this week, with confirmed locations ranging from Bristol to the Scottish Highlands. Among the new openings is the Co-op’s debut as the primary retailer at the recently developed Brent Cross Town in London. These new stores encompass a mix of freshly established outlets, franchise-operated stores, and revamped locations, aligning with the retailer’s initiative to invest in over 200 new and revamped stores by 2024/25.
This announcement adds to the 50 stores that Co-op previously disclosed would launch in November and December, just in time for the holiday season. The Co-op is urging the Government to implement business rates reform in the upcoming Budget. Kate McCrae, Co-op Operations Director, emphasized the brand’s commitment to creating community-centric stores that go beyond mere retail spaces, acting as local hubs that cater to the needs of neighborhoods.
Co-op’s dedication to supporting local communities and British suppliers is evident in its nationwide investment in stores. The retailer’s call for fair business rate reform in the Budget reflects its belief in the sustainability of the high street and the importance of providing stability for businesses to thrive. Additionally, Co-op recently introduced 200 new personalized offers, enhanced discounts, member-exclusive games, and unique deals to its membership program, aiming to offer increased value to its members. Rachel Halter, Director of Membership at Co-op, highlighted the brand’s focus on delivering exceptional value and rewarding members through enhanced benefits and savings opportunities.
