Brave Pub Patrons Thwart Gunman in Dublin

A masked gunman entered a pub in West Dublin last night, but patrons bravely intervened to prevent any gunfire. Gardai responded to The 79 Inn in Ballyfermot after receiving reports of a man with a gun. Pub customers thwarted the gunman by throwing a bar stool at him before he could shoot.

The individual believed to be the target managed to escape while others in the pub subdued the armed man who was wearing a balaclava. The gunman fled the scene as police arrived. The incident apparently stemmed from a verbal altercation earlier that evening.

Authorities are investigating the situation at the licensed establishment in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, on Saturday, January 10, 2026. No injuries have been reported, and police are continuing their inquiries, according to a garda spokesperson.
