Amazon has unveiled two new e-readers with color displays, offering an alternative to traditional black and white screens. These new devices, the Kindle Colorsoft and the Colorsoft Kids, join the existing Colorsoft Signature Edition Kindle.
The Kindle Colorsoft features 16GB of storage, fast page turns, adjustable warm light, long battery life, and access to the Kindle bookstore. While it lacks some features of the Signature Edition, such as additional storage and wireless charging, it comes at a more affordable price of £239.99 compared to £269.99 for the Signature version.
Customers can trade in their old devices for a 20% discount on the new Kindle and receive three months of free Kindle Unlimited. Additionally, Amazon is launching the Kindle Colorsoft Kids priced at £259, which includes 12 months of Amazon Kids+, a kid-friendly cover, and a 2-year worry-free guarantee.
Amazon Kids+ offers a vast library of books and audiobooks for young readers, usually priced at £4.99 per month but included for free with the Colorsoft Kids. This variant also boasts a colorful display, water-resistant design, and a built-in light for nighttime reading.
The company aims to encourage children to read more by introducing color displays, citing that kids who read graphic novels and comics spend significantly more time reading on Kindle. Both the Kindle Colorsoft and Colorsoft Kids are now available for purchase on Amazon and other UK retailers.
