Kai Trump, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, has revealed her upcoming debut on the LPGA Tour scheduled later this year. The prestigious Annika Driven By Gainbridge tournament will be held at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, in November, marking Kai’s first appearance on the LPGA Tour. This event serves as one of the final tour stops of the year, offering a platform for emerging golf talents.
Kai recently joined her grandfather, Donald Trump, at the Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black, New York, where Team Europe secured a 15-13 victory over Team USA. During the tournament, the 18-year-old received a personalized gift from Whoop, a sponsor traditionally reserved for Team USA members, staff, and Whoop employees.
The Annika tournament boasts a prize fund of $3.25 million (£2.46m), prompting Kai to temporarily pause her studies at the University of Miami to participate. In a social media post, Kai excitedly announced her participation in her inaugural LPGA Tour event next month.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Kai stated in a video to her 910,000 followers, “I’m thrilled to share that I will be making my LPGA Tour debut in November at The Annika Driven By Gainbridge hosted at the Pelican Golf Club. Competing at a professional level has been a dream of mine, and I am grateful for the invitation from the Pelican Golf Club.”
Ranked 979th on The Universal Golf Rankings among junior girls, Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, is an amateur golfer and a rising star in the sport. With over six million social media followers, she recently launched an apparel and lifestyle brand aimed at empowering young women in sports.
The LPGA’s Chief Tour Business and Operations Officer, Ricki Lasky, highlighted the significance of sponsor invitations in showcasing emerging talent and attracting new audiences to golf. Lasky praised Kai’s broad following for introducing the sport to diverse demographics, especially younger fans.
In a prior competition at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, Kai finished last among 24 players. The upcoming Annika tournament will feature top golfers like Charley Hull and defending champion Nelly Korda, providing Kai with a challenging opportunity to further her golf career.
