Texas Man Fatally Attacked by Own Pit Bulls

A man tragically met his demise after being attacked by his two pit bulls in Texas. Jose ‘Eddie’ Heriberto Padron Castillo, aged 45, was assaulted by his own dogs in the front yard of his residence on Louisiana Avenue in Bacliff, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses reported that the incident unfolded when Eddie attempted to prevent his dogs from chasing a passing golf cart. Neighbour Jesus Excontitta shared how he heard Eddie’s desperate pleas for help and intervened by trying to fend off the pit bulls with a machete and later a butcher knife.

The harrowing situation saw Jesus struggling to separate the dogs from Eddie, with one of the knives breaking during the ordeal. Despite his efforts, one of the dogs remained relentless in its attack until law enforcement officers arrived on the scene. The deputies were forced to shoot one of the dogs to stop the assault and protect Eddie.

Following the incident, Eddie was rushed to a nearby hospital where despite receiving CPR, he succumbed to his injuries. The two pit bulls were euthanized by the authorities. Reports from local news station KHOU indicated prior complaints about aggressive dogs in the area, leading residents to avoid that part of the neighborhood.

Notably, Jesus defended Eddie’s care for the dogs, stating they were well-fed and raised by him. A fundraiser on GoFundMe has been established to assist with funeral expenses, highlighting Eddie as a beloved family member and friend known for his warmth and kindness.

The community mourns the loss of Eddie, leaving behind cherished memories and loved ones, including three daughters, a grandson, his mother, and six siblings.
