“Formula 1 Driver’s Close Call with Marshals in Mexico GP”

During the Mexico City Grand Prix, Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson encountered a startling situation when he had to slow down abruptly to avoid colliding with two marshals dashing across the track. The incident occurred on the third lap of the race as the marshals were alerted about debris on the track at turn one.

Unaware that Lawson had made a pit stop to change his front wing due to damage sustained in the opening lap, the marshals were instructed to wait for all cars to pass before proceeding onto the track. As Lawson re-entered the race and approached the first corner, he was taken aback to find two marshals running in front of him. In a moment of panic, he had to decelerate to prevent a potential collision with them.

Expressing his shock over the radio, Lawson exclaimed his disbelief and concern about the risky situation. His race engineer commended him for averting a dangerous incident amidst the chaos.

Following the incident, the FIA spokesperson mentioned that an investigation was underway to understand the sequence of events and the directives provided to the marshals by race control. They clarified that instructions to dispatch the marshals were withdrawn once Lawson pitted, and caution flags were displayed in the area.

Lawson, visibly shaken by the near miss, emphasized the danger of the situation even after retiring from the race due to damage. He expressed astonishment at the lack of communication leading to such a hazardous scenario and vowed to seek a thorough explanation with his team to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The race concluded with Lando Norris clinching victory, securing the top spot in the championship standings with only four rounds remaining, narrowly edging out his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, who finished in fifth place.
