“Hamilton Venue Cancels Booking for Anti-Immigration Conference”

Hamilton police reported that a venue initially scheduled to host an anti-immigration group’s national conference later this week has rescinded the booking. The Dominion Society of Canada had planned its DomCon conference with Canadian and international speakers set for August 29 in the “Hamilton area.” Despite the booking announcement made by the group on August 13, the police did not disclose details about the venue, including its location or the reasons for the cancellation.

Several Hamilton organizations, including the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre (HARRC), had advised venues against hosting the event and provided a guide to help identify white nationalist groups before confirming bookings. The city’s mayor also sent out a letter cautioning venues and businesses about the potential event.

HARRC revealed that the Dominion Society was actively seeking an alternative venue in the Hamilton area for its conference. The group encouraged venue owners, businesses, and community facilities to scrutinize bookings and inquiries for the event on Saturday and to be wary of the group potentially using different aliases, such as Ridgeway Media.

Director Lyndon George stated that HARRC chose not to disclose further details about the cancellation to protect the venue’s privacy. The Dominion Society’s co-founder and chair, Daniel Tyrie, confirmed that despite opposition from media and activists, the event, known as DOMCON26, would proceed as planned. Tyrie mentioned that the Hamilton event scheduled for Saturday is already sold out.

The Dominion Society, established in 2025 by Tyrie, is a registered non-profit organization focused on advocating for Canadian heritage and immigration reform, which includes the deportation of millions of immigrants. Critics, including community groups and politicians, have accused the group of promoting fear and hate, which Tyrie denies. Experts have labeled the Dominion Society as a racist group with ties to neo-Nazi and extreme white nationalist organizations.

Despite the controversy, the Dominion Society has continued to promote its conference in the Hamilton area without disclosing the exact venue location. Various organizations, including B’nai Brith Canada, have expressed concerns about the event and urged authorities to prevent foreign extremists from entering Canada to participate.

When questioned about security measures and policing plans, both Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Hamilton Police Service refrained from providing specific details but stated they were collaborating with relevant partners to address any potential risks or disruptions associated with the conference.
