Nicola Golen netted a crucial goal in the second minute of extra time, securing a 2-2 draw for Ottawa Rapid against AFC Toronto on Sunday at TD Place. The league leaders, Rapid, earned a valuable point with Golen’s equalizer in the 92nd minute.
Melanie Forbes also found the back of the net for Ottawa (10-2-3) in the 13th minute, while Sarah Stratigakis and Shelina Zadorsky scored for third-placed Toronto (7-4-4).
A turning point occurred in the 63rd minute when both teams were reduced to 10 players following red cards shown to Choo Hyojoo of Rapid and Cloey Uddenberg of AFC Toronto.
Earlier on the same day, Ottawa’s TD Place was designated as the venue for the upcoming Northern Super League final scheduled for November 14.
