Tiger Woods has entered a plea of not guilty following an arrest for a rollover crash involving two vehicles in Florida. The renowned golfer, aged 50, is facing charges related to driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
The incident occurred when Woods, in an attempt to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, caused his dark SUV to roll over onto its side. Despite registering a 0.00 on a breathalyser test, he reportedly declined to undergo a urinalysis.
After spending a mandatory eight hours at Martin County Jail, Woods has been released and has returned home. TMZ initially reported his guilty plea based on court records, with attorney Douglas Duncan set to represent him.
These developments come shortly after former President Donald Trump discussed Woods with the New York Post. Trump expressed his belief that Woods is coping well, emphasizing the golfer’s negative alcohol test results and the physical challenges he faces due to past injuries.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, as Woods blew triple zeros on the breathalyser. However, Woods’ refusal to undergo a urinalysis led to charges of driving under the influence, property damage, and failure to comply with testing.
The sheriff detailed that the Jupiter Island Police Department received a call about the rollover crash involving Woods’ Land Rover and promptly requested assistance from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Woods, identified as the driver, displayed signs of impairment, leading to his arrest and transfer to the county jail.
Fortunately, there were no injuries resulting from the crash, with both Woods and the other individual involved reported as unharmed. The investigation highlighted the importance of thorough testing and adherence to legal procedures in such incidents.
