“UK Condemns Iran’s Violent Crackdown, Summons Ambassador”

The UK’s Foreign Office has called in Iran’s ambassador to address the violent suppression of nationwide protests by Tehran. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper expressed deep concern over reports of numerous casualties during the regime’s harsh crackdown, noting that the true extent of the atrocities may be underestimated due to the ongoing internet blackout in Iran.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump encouraged Iranian protestors to persist in their demonstrations, emphasizing on his Truth Social platform the importance of holding accountable those responsible for the violence. In response to the situation, the UK summoned the Iranian ambassador, Seyed Ali Mousavi, for discussions regarding Iran’s actions.

During a session at the House of Commons, Ms Cooper condemned the killings and violence, highlighting the UK’s strong disapproval of Iran’s repressive measures. She also announced forthcoming sanctions targeting key Iranian industries like finance, energy, and transportation.

Ms Cooper dismissed Iran’s claims of foreign interference in the protests as false propaganda aimed at discrediting the genuine grassroots movement within Iranian society. She emphasized the need to counter the regime’s misinformation and to support the legitimate aspirations of the Iranian people. The UK, alongside other nations globally, remains vigilant and committed to confronting Iran’s oppressive regime and safeguarding their respective interests.
