Fitbit, known for aiding users in maintaining an active lifestyle for over 15 years, has introduced a new product named Fitbit Air. This innovative device provides a cost-effective and convenient way to monitor daily fitness levels. Unlike previous Fitbit models, the Fitbit Air does not feature a screen and resembles popular Whoop bands that elegantly wrap around the wrist.
Although the absence of a screen means losing functionalities like message reading, heart rate monitoring, and exercise statistics viewing, the Fitbit Air offers significant advantages. It boasts a more comfortable design akin to a bracelet-style strap rather than a traditional smartwatch. In a recent study conducted by Google, the Fitbit Air was rated as more comfortable than its top competitors.
Moreover, the Fitbit Air ensures a week-long battery life without the need for frequent recharging. Even when the battery is depleted, quick charging capabilities provide a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. The device also includes a new magnetic charger with bi-directional technology, eliminating the need to worry about the orientation while charging.
Despite its minimalist appearance, the Fitbit Air remains true to its core functionality as a fitness tracker. It monitors various metrics such as sleep patterns, activity levels, daily exercises, heart rate, and alerts users about irregular heart rhythms, including conditions like AFib. The device houses advanced features like an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor.
Since it lacks a screen, all collected data is seamlessly transferred to smartphones, where the Google Health Coach offers an integrated health overview for users. The Fitbit Air is fully water-resistant up to 50 meters and will be available in four color options: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender.
