“Former Geography Teacher Convicted of Sexual Activity with Students”

A Plymouth court has convicted Anthony Redmond, a former geography teacher, of engaging in sexual activity with two students, one of which occurred in a school cupboard. The incidents took place in the 2000s when Redmond was teaching at a Plymouth school. Redmond faced charges including abuse of trust and indecency, denying all allegations.

The court heard testimonies from one of the victims who expressed feeling “used and worthless” by Redmond. It was also revealed that Redmond took the virginity of both students involved. Despite his denial, the jury unanimously found Redmond guilty on all charges. Following the verdict, Redmond’s legal representative requested a pre-sentence report, highlighting his client’s previously clean record.

Judge Robert Linford granted bail to Redmond and agreed to conduct a pre-sentence report. The sentencing is scheduled for February 10. The judge commended the jury for their dedication, acknowledging their commitment throughout the trial process, which spanned over the holiday period. He assured the jurors that they could be excused from serving on a jury for the next decade if they wished.
