Millions of Gmail users are now getting access to a significant update. Google has officially announced the rollout of a new feature that allows users to change their email addresses, offering a solution for those dissatisfied with their original Gmail account names.
Google stated that users can now modify their Google Account usernames, the part before @gmail.com, which is utilized for logging into various apps and services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive.
One key benefit of this update is that both the original and the new email addresses will work simultaneously, ensuring no messages are missed regardless of the account used.
Google assured users that the update will not affect any saved data within their accounts, including photos, messages, and emails.
Although this change is a welcome one from the tech giant, it is currently only available in the United States, leaving users in the UK waiting for the feature to reach them.
For users in the US, Google advised going to their Google account settings, selecting personal info, then email, and finally Google account email to access the option to change the email address. Users are reminded that they can only create a new address once every 12 months.
If residing in the US, it is recommended to check account settings to see if the update has been applied.
