“Metal-core Sex Toy Mishap in MRI Scan Sparks Safety Warnings”

A young woman sustained severe injuries when a sex toy she had inside her got pulled through her body during an MRI scan. The incident occurred after she mistakenly inserted a “butt plug,” thinking it was made entirely of silicon, but it had a metal core. This caused a dangerous reaction with the MRI machine, leading to the toy being dragged from her rectum into her body. The image of the incident circulated online, prompting warnings against wearing metal objects during MRI scans.

A social media user shared the picture and warned others not to wear butt plugs to MRI appointments. The post described how the toy was pulled through the patient’s body into their chest cavity, resulting in major injuries. MRI scanners use powerful magnets to create detailed body images for diagnosis and treatment planning, requiring patients to disclose any metal objects before the scan.

The woman did not inform the hospital about the sex toy, assuming it contained no metal. A report by the US Department of Health and Human Services detailed the incident, where the patient experienced pain and nausea during the MRI. Similar serious accidents have occurred, including a man who accidentally shot himself during an MRI and a fatal incident where a man was pulled into the machine by his necklace.

Despite safety protocols, tragic accidents like these serve as reminders of the need for strict adherence to MRI guidelines to prevent harm to patients.
